The Spice Lounge
If you're craving bold Indian flavours served in a warm and familiar setting, The Spice Lounge on High Street in Higham Ferrers should absolutely be on your radar. Tucked inside a charming building at 22-24 High St, Rushden NN10 8BL, this restaurant delivers a delightful combination of traditional South Asian dishes and modern hospitality that makes it a firm local favourite-especially for dinner.
One of the first things you’ll notice when you step in is how The Spice Lounge manages to strike a fine balance between elegance and comfort. The layout is spacious, with ample seating that caters to both solo diners and larger groups. The restaurant’s accessibility is well-considered, too-wheelchair users will find a fully accessible entrance, seating area, and toilets. Whether you're planning a relaxed dinner or a quiet lunch break, this spot has you covered.
What really brings people back again and again is the food. The Butter Chicken here is rich, silky, and fragrant-the kind of dish you find yourself daydreaming about later. Pair it with a side of Peshwari Naan, and you’re in for a meal that’s both comforting and indulgent. If you're looking to go vegetarian, the Vegetable Jalfrezi, Bombay Potatoes, and Tarka Dhal combo served with rice is a hearty, well-spiced alternative that doesn’t feel like a compromise.
The starters are where The Spice Lounge likes to show off its flair. Classic favourites like Onion Bhajis, Sheek Kebab, and Aloo Chaat come out sizzling, crispy, and full of personality. There’s also something deeply nostalgic about their Shish Kebab with Mint Sauce-it’s the kind of flavour that lingers in the best way.
But don't stop at savoury. The dessert and drink offerings are just as inviting. For those with a sweet tooth, the Cadbury Flake Ice Cream served with Tia Maria Coffee makes for a surprising and indulgent finish. Looking for something a bit stronger? Their Brandy and Baileys Cream is smooth and warming-ideal for sipping slowly after a full meal. Drinks-wise, the selection spans from Cobra Beer to Rose Wine, and even cocktails and spirits if you’re in the mood.
And if you're thinking of convenience, The Spice Lounge doesn’t disappoint. They offer a wide range of service options, including no-contact delivery, kerbside pickup, drive-through, and of course, dine-in for the full experience. They’re also open late, which is perfect for spontaneous curry cravings that hit after sundown.
Fans of small plates will appreciate the flexibility here-whether you’re building your meal tapas-style with Samosas, Bhindi Bhajis, and Chana Masala, or going all-in with a loaded main like Chicken Titanium Masala, the menu has room to explore without feeling overwhelming.
And here's what makes The Spice Lounge stand out: it's not just about delivering great food-it’s about consistency, care, and community. From the attentive staff to the warm interior and flavour-packed plates, it’s easy to see why this spot continues to earn praise from locals and visitors alike. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite, sitting down for a special dinner, or picking up a takeaway on your way home, The Spice Lounge brings authentic Indian hospitality right to the heart of Northamptonshire.
Reviews
Recommended by a friend, we thought we'd give it a go and were very impressed with the quality of the food and the service provided. Not particularly cheap but the quality made up for it. One of the best restaurants around and we'd definitely be going back. Cost, including tip for 3 of us was around £75 and included two beers.
Haven't been for a while but the Sunday night banquet is great value for delicious food. The staff are attentive and efficient. Food was a fair wait time, not too long at all but came out piping hot and fresh. The Chicken Tawa is my new favourite dish. We will be making this our regular spot for when we fancy a good Indian.
Great service from the team here, couldn't make you feel more welcome. Food was excellent too, making it a great place to eat out locally !! Will be returning again soon ....
Lovely friendly atmosphere and welcoming staff really made our meal memorable. The food was quick and very tasty. Portion size was perfect and every dish was full of flavour. There was a meal deal when we visited which was good value although not everything on the menu was included.
It is always a pleasure dining at the Spice Lounge. The staff are polite and attentive. The food is delicious and the variety is great. My personal fave is the Chicken Bakara - perfect for those that enjoy a bit of spicy heat with full of flavour and lots of aroma, It’s an authentic subcontinent dish. Definitely worth visiting if you haven’t already.
